Busta Rhymes' machine gun flow and hoarse voice have been embedded in East Coast hip-hop since the mid-1990s.

At the beginning of his career, he was known for his dress style, then better known today for his rap technique or for his numerous nominations at the Grammy Awards.

About.com ranks the artist on its list of “50 Best Rappers of Our Time” (1987–2007), and AllMusic's Steve Huey considers him one of the most important rappers of the 1990s. The Source magazine ranks him in its top 50 of the best lyricists of all time. MTV considers him to be one of hip-hop's greatest visionaries.

It has a total of eight albums, the first being titled The Coming, released in 1996, and repeatedly certified platinum.
